No matter what your life situation, LifeKey is an important addition to your health management.
- Builds a lifetime personal health history.

- Provides an offsite backup in case of a disaster.
LifeKey takes over where EMR systems leave off…
EMR systems only work if all your doctors are tied into the same EMR system. If one of your doctors has a different EMR system or hasn't invested in the system that the hospital uses, they are not able to share your medical records electronically. The only way for them to share your medical information is to print your records and share them as paper.
Our technology creates a truly Universal Electronic Medical record that can be shared by everyone in the healthcare community. Your records can be viewed by your doctors or by the ER without proprietary hardware or software.
We even can share images of EKGs and other information that most EMR systems cannot handle. We have seen hospitals that have EMR systems still need to send someone to the records department to retrieve an old EKG because it is only in a paper format. With LifeKey you can take electronic copies of your old EKGs with you to the ER, whether you go to your local hospital or need the services of a hospital which is out of town.

LifeKey at work |
| |
LifeKey is a portable USB Flash Drive. It contains a patient's medical records. The following explanation provides a graphic illustration of how the device works and what you will see when you plug a LifeKey into a computer.
It should be noted that the USB Flash Drive is not the technology behind LifeKey; it is only the delivery method. The technology is the document format which is superior to any other device on the market. The technology creates a Universal Portable Medical Record that can be viewed in every ER without proprietary hardware or software. The USB Flash Drive effectively gives you the freedom to carry your medical records with you at all times and gives you control over who you give permission to view them. |
| |
| Step 1: Plug LifeKey into a computer’s USB port. |
| |
 |
| |
| Step 2: A window will open and display a PDF icon which is titled Medical File. |
| |
 |
| |
Step 3: A LifeKey subscriber has the option of making this record password protected. If the medical record is password protected you will see the following window appear when you double click on the icon to launch the PDF file. The password to open the file is located on the patient’s ID card.
(A large number of LifeKey subscribers feel that a password presents a barrier to viewing their medical records in an emergency. They have opted not to password protect their medical record. In this case the screen will not appear and the document will automatically launch in Acrobat Reader.) |
| |
 |
| |
| Step 4: A window will open and display an Instruction page. This page identifies the patient and provides a brief explanation on how to view the records. |
| |
 |
| |
| Step 5: Viewing the medical record. If you prefer, the pages can be printed and viewed in paper form. |

How LifeKey Works |
| |
| Using LifeKey is easy. You don’t even need to know how to use a computer to gain its protection in case of an emergency. |
| |
- You Receive Instruction Packet
- Upon signing up for a LifeKey subscription you will receive an email link to download your personal starter kit. In it, you will find a medical record release form that you will give to your physician. Most doctors will have your records copied and give them to you. After you receive your medical records you will need to forward them onto us.
- We process your records
- Upon receipt of your medical records, Sytec Health will process them to be added onto a LifeKey.
- You can have your LifeKey encrypted and password protected. If you select this option, you will be assigned a unique password to be used for accessing the information contained on your LifeKey.
- They Include Doctor’s Signature
- The electronic records on LifeKey are legal electronic replicas of your original paper records.
- They include your doctors signature so that an ER doctor can rely on the records as being authentic.
- Your LifeKey Will Be Mailed To You
- After your medical records are processed onto a LifeKey, you will receive your LifeKey in the mail along with your identification card.
- With LifeKey no one can access your medical records without your permission.
|
When your doctor views the records, they are in a format that is familiar to physicians and can be viewed without proprietary software using Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader is free software installed on over ½ billion computers world wide.
We provide a demographic form where you can create a list of your doctors and health care providers. Once complete, this form can be sent to us and we will add it to your LifeKey.
You can send us copies of your important papers such as your birth certificate, marriage license, and your living will and we will add them to your LifeKey.
You will also have your pharmacist print a list of your medications and send it to us so that we can add it to your LifeKey. |
Available 24 Hours A Day, 7 Days A Week
With LifeKey you can create a personal health history that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Furthermore, you don’t need to understand computers because we scan and put all your records on LifeKey for you.
Your medical records are available to any ER doctor that might treat you in an emergency. |

In An Emergency
- With your LifeKey you will receive a plastic ID card to carry in your purse or wallet. On your ID card will be your unique password. If you choose to password protect your LifeKey, nobody can access your records without the password.
- If you are unconscious your records can still be accessed by emergency personnel. First responders are trained to look for medical information when they arrive at the scene. They will look for identification and medical information in your purse or your wallet.
They will find your ID card that says EMERGENCY HEALTH INFORMATION in large red letters. On the face of the ID card is this information:
“I have a LifeKey USB flash drive with me that contain all my medical records. Look in my pocket, purse or on my keychain. Plug it into a computer’s USB port to view my medical records.”

Optional Password Protection
- If you would like to receive a LifeKey that is not password protected, you will let us know in the order process.
Password/Encryption Protection: Benefit or Barrier?
LifeKey offers the most advanced military grade password/encryption software to securely protect your medical records. The majority of our subscribers, however, view this layer of security as a barrier to its use. Many feel they control who can see their records by physically controlling their LifeKey. They think the password/encryption software is unnecessary.
In fact, 93.7% of our customers request that we send their LifeKey without this extra security layer. Most of these LifeKey subscribers say that they don’t want to have any barriers when that critical time comes and they need to use their LifeKey. They want emergency personnel to have immediate unfettered access to their medical records. They realize that their LifeKey can be lost or stolen but they are willing to assume that risk, and are not concerned if someone sees, for instance, their EKG.
A benefit of LifeKey is that your medical records can be viewed from nearly every computer in the world to provide the urgent care answers needed in a time of emergency. To satisfy both those subscribers who don’t want any barriers to their medical records and those subscribers who want the ultimate privacy and security, we have made the password/security feature on LifeKey optional.

Better Treatment Better Outcomes
- With your medical history available, your ER doctor will be able to prescribe the best treatment plan.
- You or a loved one will have the best chance for a successful recovery and a quality of life that could otherwise be at risk without a LifeKey.

How Is LifeKey Updated
- When you go to your doctor's office you will request a copy of the medical records from that visit. Upon receipt of the records, you will forward them to us. As new medical records are received, they will be processed and added to a replacement LifeKey which then will be mailed to you. You can have up to 10 updated replacement keys sent to you a year.
If you went to the ER and are in the middle of a treatment plan where you will continue to see your doctor or a specialist, we would recommend that you accumulate your additional medical records and send them to us as one batch. This way your medications can be stabilized and you can use only a couple of your updates rather then use them all at once.
- Your replacement LifeKey will be mailed to you in a re-usable container. You will remove your replacement LifeKey and return your existing LifeKey to us in the reusable package.
